FRANCIS DIFRONZO 2-DAY PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP
DATES: OCTOBER 12 &13, 2024
TIME: 9:30am – 4pm both days
LOCATION: San Joaquin Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, 5 Riparian View, Irvine, CA 92612
INSTRUCTOR: Francis DiFronzo
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This two-day, plein air painting workshop was created for those who are new to painting outdoors, in addition to experienced plein air painters.
The lesson plan created by Francis DiFronzo mirrors his own experience in learning to paint en plein air. His unique method begins with using acrylic paint to swiftly capture the scene in a medium that dries quickly. He then transitions to oil paint, refining and completing the artwork within just a 2-3 hours.
Students will begin this two-day course by finding the scene they wish to paint within Irvine Regional Park. They will learn how to create a compelling composition by briefly studying examples of Masters’ artworks and creating thumbnail sketches of the scenes they wish to paint.
Students will then start painting, quickly capturing the moment using acrylic paint. Students will then transition to oil, progressively refining their paintings until they are completed to the artist’s individual satisfaction.
Throughout each day, Francis will spend time with each student, specifically tailoring his lessons to support each students’ individual skill and creativity. The goal is for students to experience the joy of plein air painting by learning a process that is frustration-free and rewarding.
$250 includes 2 days of instruction, snacks and water included.
